Abba was a common word used to refer to ones father in Aramaic, usually used by children of a young age. However, it was also commonly used by adults, more specifically when they wished to speak in great honor of elderly fathers. Abba could carry the connotation of a father who is strong, capable, and worthy of honor and trust; a father who you can look up to and admire, but does not translate to ‘daddy’ in English.
